History of smartphone operating system

Symbian (Symbian OS)

The predecessor of Symbian (Chinese translation "Symbian") is the EPOC operating system developed by Psion, which was founded in 1980. Psion is a joint venture formed in 1998 by Nokia, SONY Ericsson, MOTOROLA, Siemens and other major mobile equipment manufacturers to develop mobile phone operating systems.

Symbian OS(Symbian operating system) is a real-time, multi-task 32-bit operating system, with low power consumption, low memory consumption and other characteristics, very suitable for mobile devices such as mobile phones. Its biggest feature is the use of system kernel and human-machine interface separation technology, low requirements for hardware, after continuous improvement, It supports GPRS(General Packet Radio Service), Bluetooth, SyncML(Synchronization Markup Language), and 3G technologies.

Mobile phones using Symbian OS were mainly from Nokia, but on January 24, 2013, Nokia announced in its earnings conference call that the Nokia 808 would be the last Symbian phone.
