Dior couture every season

From the behind-the-scenes stories shared before the show, during the conversation between the artisans, we have guessed that the theme of the collection is related to folklore and tradition, which is presented by the exquisite craftsmanship.

Women's creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri further revealed on social media: "The core element of the couture show is the 'Tree of life', a symbol of all myths and religions, the universe and spiritual life around the world."

Working closely with female artists has been an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Maria Grazia Chiuri.

The bright paintings at this season's show were conceived and created by Ukrainian artist Olesia Trofymenko.

"The Tree of Life" is her representative creation element, symbolizing optimism and hope.

The artistic painting from the traditional decorative painting of Ukraine and the embroidery process blend interpretation, to inject rich emotions with the skillful craft.

When dozens of artistic embroidery paintings are spread along the wall, a magical journey of ancient myth and reality is opened.

Embroidery craft

After deciding on the "Tree of Life" as the big show proposition, Maria Grazia Chiuri's next challenge was: how to express "life force" in haute couture uniforms?

She thought of the most important "embroidery" of Dior Couture workshop, in order to connect the brand's genes, art and folk clothing themes.

The show opened in a soft white, and the gown was decorated with delicate rose motifs - a tribute to Mr. Dior, who loved roses.

This iconic element is woven from cotton, silk and yarn in a variety of techniques.

The 3D embroidery shows the eternal charm of the "Rose of Dior", and the vivid interpretation of the branches, trunks and roots of the tree of life.

The ensuing beige fashion, with white silk lines outline the flowers and leaves, dotted with light yellow, yellow stamens, or a faint touch of black, blue.

Between deep and shallow, patterns and colors are superimposed, highlighting the exquisite skills of Dior workshop craftsmen.

The shoe part also adopts a similar process, lace embroidery patchwork cloth, with a slim boot shape, showing the Dior woman's hardness and softness.

These luxurious embroideries require a lot of time and effort to achieve perfection.

At the same time, it also requires the emotional input of the creator and the temperature of the hand-made work, so that the colorful threads can be transformed into flowers and leaves that are full of life, blooming on cotton fabrics, wool crepe, silk and cashmere.

All the patterns, embroideries and beads on the senior custom uniforms are completed by the traditional craft of embroidery, which is rich in human feelings.

As Chiuri says, "Haute couture is the unique feeling of being in touch with people."

One sleeveless dress, decorated with attractive mesh embroidery, gives a different look to the top and bottom.

Seemingly simple, in fact, the process is extremely complex: first to complete the embroidery part, and then embellished with ribbons, to create a cross texture; The neckline and cuff edging also use different techniques to add the three-dimensional effect of staggered height to the flat fabric, and highlight the high-order embroidery process in multiple dimensions.
