From "eating safe" to "eating healthy" Gansu actively promotes the work of national nutrition and health

In recent years, the Health and Health Commission of Gansu Province, together with the relevant departments of the Nutrition Commission of Gansu Province, has earnestly implemented the Implementation Plan of the National Nutrition Plan of Gansu Province (2018-2030) issued by the Gansu Provincial government, coordinated the promotion of nutrition and health related work, and actively promoted the improvement of the service level for the people from "eating safe" to "eating healthy". So that urban and rural people's nutrition and health needs have been enhanced.

In July 2018, the General Office of the Gansu Provincial Government issued the Implementation Plan of the National Nutrition Plan of Gansu Province (2018-2030), which put forward the goals and tasks, important measures and major actions for promoting nutrition and health work in the province. In January 2020, the Gansu Provincial government issued the "Opinions on the Implementation of the Action to Promote Health in Gansu", and put forward the implementation plan for the special action to carry out reasonable diet in the province. In the past two years, Gansu has made great efforts to establish and improve the working mechanism of nutrition and health, publicize and popularize nutrition knowledge, guide the public to eat healthily, create a reasonable dietary atmosphere, and comprehensively promote the implementation of the national nutrition plan.

This year, Gansu will carry out the training of nutrition instructors in the province, focusing on solving the problem of the shortage of nutrition and health talents, and strive to train 2,500 nutrition instructors for the grassroots by 2025; At the same time, Gansu will continue to give full play to the advantages of a major province of traditional Chinese medicine, and implement nutritional medicinal diet into the clinical rehabilitation treatment of patients. In 2019, Gansu Province was once again identified as one of the national pilot provinces for improving the nutrition of primary school students, and nine schools have been awarded the national "Nutrition and Health Model School" in the past three years.

At present, there are more than 10,000 rural compulsory education schools in Gansu Province that have implemented the student nutrition improvement plan, benefiting more than 1.6 million students. In order to understand and evaluate the impact of the "Student Nutrition Improvement Plan" on the nutrition and health status of students in the implementation area, Gansu Province has established a working mechanism and formulated a management system in accordance with the requirements of the state and the provincial level, and promoted the school canteens as the main food supply mode. In recent years, the monitoring data show that the height and weight of students in Gansu Province are increasing. The overall malnutrition rate, growth retardation rate and anemia rate showed a decreasing trend, while the wasting rate showed no obvious trend. The rate of overweight and obesity is increasing.

In order to make the public understand nutrition-related policies and master nutrition and health knowledge, the Gansu Provincial Health Commission and relevant departments actively promote the normalization of nutrition and health science popularization and education. From 2019 to 2021, the National Nutrition Week publicity activities will be carried out in Qingyang, Lanzhou, Tianshui and other cities; in 2021, the residents' awareness rate of nutrition and health will be investigated in 8 counties (cities and districts) in 8 cities (prefectures) of Gansu Province; and the National Nutrition Week publicity and the launch ceremony of "5.20" Chinese Student Nutrition Day publicity activities will be held in Baiyin City in 2022.

According to reports, Gansu Province through the nutrition publicity into the community, into the school, into the village, into the enterprise, into the supermarket and other multi-level nutrition education activities, strengthen the nutrition diet guidance publicity, to popularize the public high salt, high sugar, high fat and other unhealthy diet caused by obesity, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes and other metabolic diseases and tumor risk factors. Through the "three reduction and three health" (reducing salt, oil, sugar, healthy weight, healthy mouth, healthy bones) guide people to eat a reasonable diet to reduce the risk of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, coronary heart disease and other diseases.

In addition, Gansu vigorously promotes the significance of carrying out reasonable diet action and promoting the construction of healthy Gansu, and creates an atmosphere for all people to pay attention to nutrition and health. Actively disseminate the core information of the Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents, and strengthen the publicity of the importance of reasonable diet for enhancing immunity and preventing and controlling diseases, so that the people can enjoy real health promotion services and take the initiative to improve their health literacy.
