On May 12, the opening ceremony of the 4th Shanghai Municipal People's Games was held at Shanghai Stadium. Shanghai Municipal Party Secretary Chen Jining announced the opening of the 4th Shanghai Civic Games.

As a landmark brand event in Shanghai's efforts to develop mass sports, the quadrennennial Civic Sports Meeting takes "participation of all people, sports of all people, health of all people, joy of all people" as its purpose, providing a platform for citizens to show themselves and advocate health.

Founded in 2012, Shanghai Citizen Games is the first of its kind in China. It is a comprehensive and iconic brand event for Shanghai's national fitness. It is held every four years and every Olympic year.

According to the organizing committee, the civic Games are composed of competition plates and activity plates. The competition section is divided into 65 competition items, 15 exhibition items and 2 standard items.

The activity section contains 40 municipal brand activities and 16 district-level brand activities, covering 16 districts of the city, aiming to attract more people to participate in the civic sports and feel the happiness of fitness and sports.

This civic sports meeting covers children and teenagers, employees, the elderly, migrant workers in Shanghai, foreign friends and other groups. This year, a total of 126 delegations signed up for the competition, with participants from various districts, municipal organs, enterprise groups, Shanghai army, universities and so on.

According to the organizing committee, a total of 408 enterprises and social organizations participated in the bidding of the civil Games, and 241 units won the bid after expert review, and a number of market players with professional qualifications and capabilities have emerged.
