Analysis firm: 56% of Americans use mobile devices to read news, with apps like TikTok favored

According to a September survey by analytics firm Pew Research Center, mobile is now the most popular device Americans use to get news.

According to a Pew Research Center disclosure report, U.S. users typically get their news from news sites and software (29%), followed by search engine news streams (27%), social media platforms (19%) and podcasts (9%).

In terms of social media platforms, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other applications are the most favored by Americans, and the most favored platforms are Facebook (30%), YouTube (26%), and Instagram (16%). TikTok is the fastest growing social media platform in fourth place (14%). Platform X is in fifth place with 12%.

The survey also pointed out that the number of Americans who watch news on TikTok has increased rapidly from 3% in 2020 to 14% this year, making it the fastest growing social media news platform in recent years.
