01 History of badminton World Championships

The World Badminton Championships, organized by the World Badminton Federation, is the world's highest level of badminton championships. The first was held in 1977 in Malmo, Sweden, and has been held every three years since then, with the third being held every two years. In 1981, the International Badminton Federation (IBF) and the World Badminton Federation (BWF) merged to form the International Badminton Federation (IBF), and the World Championships were merged. After the institutional reform and the adjustment of the tournament schedule, the new World Championship was held in 1983. Set up men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, mixed doubles five events.

Since 1985, the World Championships have been held biennially until 2005. In 2006, the World Championships became an annual event. However, in each Olympic year, the World Championships were discontinued to make way for the Olympic badminton competition.

2020 was originally an Olympic year, but due to the impact of the epidemic, the Tokyo Olympic Games were postponed to the summer of 2021, and the World Championships originally scheduled to be held in Spain in August 2021 were postponed to the end of 2021.

02 Kuniyu's World Championship history

In the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Guo Yu ushered in a bumper harvest, winning four gold MEDALS other than men's doubles, and women's doubles were the first three. They are Ji Xinpeng, gold medalist in men's singles, Gong Zhichao in women's singles, Ge Fei/Gu Jun in women's doubles, and Zhang Jun/Gao Ling in mixed doubles. Since then, Chinese badminton has amazed the world and won many championships in various competitions.

At the beginning of the World Championship, due to the chaos of the badminton event management organization, the badminton cause appeared a certain degree of repetition and singleness. After a series of adjustments, the third World Championship held in 1983 was valued by the multinational badminton Association, and this World Badminton Championship also became the largest number of players in history.

At the World Championships, China's Li Lingwei, Lin Ying/Wu Dixi won the women's singles and doubles titles, opening up China's brilliant road at the world Championships. At the 5th World Championships held in Beijing in 1987, Chinese athletes won all five individual championships, creating history.

In the following decades, the Chinese badminton team has won the World Championships many times, and in the cumulative number of gold MEDALS, it is ahead of many badminton powers such as Indonesia, South Korea and Denmark. Whether it is the golden generation known to fans, or the current IELTS and the World, they have made gratifying achievements in the World Championships.

After the end of the Rio Olympic Games, the Tokyo Olympic medal has become the goal of badminton players in various countries. The three World Championships of the Tokyo cycle were held in Glasgow, England, Nanjing, China, and Basel, Switzerland. In these three championships, Guo Yu won the mixed doubles, men's doubles, women's doubles three gold MEDALS.

Among them, in the 2017 Glasgow World Championships, the Mortal combination eliminated two groups of Japanese women's doubles and climbed to the top of the world championship. Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan has not grown old and defended the glory of the men's doubles. It is worth mentioning that in the women's singles competition of the 2017 World Championships, Chen Yufei, a young rookie, won a bronze medal against Yamaguchi Akane and Indanon.

In the 2018 World Championships, the Chinese badminton team still has two gold MEDALS. Mixed doubles final, the invincible Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong against the calm atmosphere of Wang Yilu/Huang Dongping, the game like a fairy fight, the final IELTS combination off the crown. The men's doubles final was between Kuniba's Liu Yuchen/Li Junhui and Japan's Kenshi Kamura/Keiko Yuda. In the women's singles and men's singles, Shi Yuqi won a silver medal and He Bingjiao also won a bronze medal.

In the 2019 Basel World Championships, the national feather was cold as a whole and only won the champion of the mixed doubles project. However, in the women's doubles event, Du Yue/Li Yinhui performed well, in the fourth of eight matches, the two people fought hard, even at the end of the third set to cramp, and did not give up, taking 126 minutes to reverse the Olympic champion Matsutomo Misaki/Takahashi Rehua, won the precious bronze medal for the women's doubles event.

As of 2019, the Chinese badminton team in the Tokyo cycle has won a total of five gold MEDALS in three events at the World Championships.
