Guo Yu's men's singles failed to make it to the top four, and An Sailong was unexpectedly eliminated

The 2023 Danish Badminton World Championships ended all the competition for the quarter finals in Copenhagen. The Chinese badminton team continues to hold the hope of winning in four other events besides men's singles, with one person and five pairs successfully advancing to the semifinals. However, Shi Yuqi, the only young player in the men's singles, was eliminated after losing a major competition against Naraoka in Japan. In addition, there was a big upset in the quarterfinals, as the men's singles champion of the Tokyo Olympics, Danish athlete Anselon, who was on the rise during this Olympic cycle, was eliminated by India's Prannoy, which greatly disappointed the host fans.

Shi Yuqi, the only remaining male singles player from the Chinese badminton team in the quarterfinals, faced his old opponent, Nara Okada from Japan. With injuries, Shi Yuqi's form was difficult to play, and he was defeated 10-21 in the first game. In the second game, Naraoka Kunda's eye was hit by the ball, which also had some impact. Ishiyuki played quite tenaciously, with a close score, and there was no significant difference like in the first game. At the end of the game, Shi Yuqi's physical fitness was noticeably weak, and he lost another game 19-21, with a total score of 0-2, unfortunately ending in the quarterfinals. After Little Stone was eliminated, the figure of Guoyu men's singles disappeared completely.

The women's singles quarter finals have ushered in a civil war for the Chinese team. Chen Yufei, who has never lost in the competition, is still the winner this time. She defeated her teammate Wang Zhiyi 2-0 and advanced to the semifinals alone, fully advancing to the Grand Slam. This is her fourth time reaching the women's singles semi-finals of the World Championships, and her next opponent will be South Korea's An Xieying, who is also the biggest obstacle for Chen Yufei to win the World Championships.

Two out of the three doubles events will face the Chinese derby in the semi-finals. Chen Chenchen/Jia Yifan, as well as Zhang Shuxian/Zheng Yu from the Chinese women's doubles team, both defeated their respective opponents in the/4 finals with a score of 2-1. They will compete for a spot in the final, ensuring that at least one pair of Chinese players will appear in the final. The same goes for mixed doubles matches, where Zheng Siwei, Huang Yaqiong, Jiang Zhenbang, and Wei Yaxin all defeated their respective opponents with the same score of 2-0. They will meet in the semi-finals and compete for a spot in the final between the new and old combinations of Chinese badminton mixed doubles.

The fate of the two pairs of men's doubles players who made it to the quarterfinals is different. Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang took one step at a time and defeated the Indonesian duo Fikri/Morana 2-1, advancing to the semi-finals in their first participation in the World Championships, which means they can win a medal. The "Twin Towers" Liu Yuchen/Ou Xuanyi suffered a regrettable defeat, but were eliminated with a total score of 1-2 against the defending champions Malaysia's Xie Dingfeng/Su Weiyi duo.

The biggest upset in the quarterfinals was the elimination of Tokyo Olympic men's singles champion Anselon. Under the enthusiastic cheers of the host audience, Anselon was under a lot of pressure, playing with fear of his hands and feet. He rarely experienced falling behind scenes, and his mentality was also a bit impatient. In the match against India's Prannoy, he lost 1-2 and missed the chance to defend his title.
