The million dollar fantasy bras in Victoria's Secret history

In its 22-year history, the Fantasy Bra has become one of the most recognizable and iconic highlights of the Victoria's Secret fashion show, taking a bra brand to new heights of craftsmanship and luxury.

The first Fantasy bra hit the catwalk in 1996, and since then supermodels including Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima and Gisele Bundchen have taken turns wearing the famous fantasy bra.

Being able to walk the runway in the Fantasy bra is Victoria's Secret's highest honor, so it's rarely assigned to lesser known faces. From diamonds to sapphires, rubies to pearls, here's a look at the rich history of these finishing touches.

Million Dollar Miracle Bra (1996)

Value: $1 million

The first ever fantasy bra is the cheapest and has never been on the runway. It was shot wearing only Claudia Schiffer as part of an advertising campaign for the opening of a new Victoria's Secret store in Manhattan.

Dream Diamond Bra (1997)

Value: $3 million

This simple bra by Tyra Banks features a 42-carat diamond as the centerpiece.

Dream Angel Bra (1998)

Value: $5 million

The bra was draped with jewels to create a floral mesh effect. It was performed by Czech model Daniela Pestova.

Millennium Fantasy Bra (1999)

Value: $10 million

Ahead of the possible year 2000 apocalypse, Victoria's Secret decided to usher in the new century by creating a sky-inspired bra featuring more than 2,000 diamonds and sapphires on a platinum base, performed by Heidi Klum.

Hot Dream Bra (2000)

Value: $15 million

Performed by Gisele Bundchen, the bra set the Guinness World Record for the most expensive bra at the time. Weighing a total of 1,300 carats of diamonds and Thai rubies set in red satin, it remains the most expensive fantasy bra ever made by Victoria's Secret.

Paradise Star Fantasy Bra (2001)

Value: $12.5 million

This was actually the Fantasy bra's first appearance on the Victoria's Secret runway. Until then, the bra was only for photo shoots and was shown separately from the runway shows. Created by luxury goods company Mouawad and portrayed by Heidi Klum, the bra features 12,000 Sri Lankan pink sapphires and a 90-carat diamond.
