Help Iverson change his life

John Thompson was the basketball coach at Georgetown University and the first black coach in the history of the United States to head an NCAA Division I conference. He was once a reserve center for the Boston Celtics, winning two NBA championships with Bill Russell.

Known for his rigor, fairness, wisdom and kindness, he taught his students not only how to play basketball, but also how to be a man. He has produced many outstanding basketball stars, such as Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo.

Thompson is very interested in Allen Iverson, he thinks Iverson has amazing talent and potential, but also has a lot of problems and difficulties.

He decided to give Iverson a chance to join Georgetown's basketball team and offer him a scholarship. He hopes to help Iverson change his destiny and become a good basketball player and person.

Iverson was so grateful for Thompson's trust and support that he decided to take the opportunity to learn and play. He soon showed his talent and became the main guard of the Georgetown University basketball team.

During the 1994-1995 season, he averaged 20 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 steals as he led the Georgetown basketball team to the Big East Tournament title and to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.

In the 1995-1996 season, he averaged 25 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.8 steals, once again leading the Georgetown basketball team to the Big East Tournament title and to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. In both seasons, Iverson was selected as an NCAA All-American and won the 1996 Robertson Award, given to the best guard in the United States.

Iverson's performance at Georgetown University caught the attention of NBA scouts, many of whom believed he had the potential to become a professional star. Iverson also wants to play in the NBA and realize his dream.

After completing his two-year college career, he decided to enter the 1996 NBA Draft. It was one of the strongest draft years in history, with many outstanding players involved, such as Kobe Bryant, Ray Allen, Stephon Marbury, Antoine Walker, Jeremy O 'Neal, and others.

Although Iverson is only 1.83 meters tall, he is very small among these tall players, but he is not afraid, he believes that he has the ability and mentality to transcend physical conditions.

In pre-draft tests, Iverson showed his speed, agility and explosiveness, leaving a deep impression on scouts.

His coach Thompson also made a lot of recommendations for him, saying that he is a player with unlimited potential, and given the right environment and guidance, he can become a great player.

On the day of the draft, Iverson donned a black suit and sunglasses and arrived at Madison Square Garden in New York with confidence and anticipation. He didn't know what his fate would be, he just knew he was ready.

When the Philadelphia 76ers had the first overall pick in the draft, they didn't hesitate to select Iverson. It was a surprising choice, as many thought the 76ers should go with a tall post player to compensate for their lack of rebounding and defense.

But 76ers general manager Pat Croce believes Iverson is a special player with unmatched speed, agility and offensive ability who can bring new energy and hope to the 76ers. "We need a player who can change the pace and style of the game, we need a player who can get the fans excited and crazy, we need a player who can make opponents scared and freak out, we need an answer, and Allen Iverson is that answer," he said.

When Iverson heard his name called, he jumped up and hugged his mother, coach and agent.

He walked onto the stage, shook the hands of Kroc and NBA Commissioner David Stern, and received a 76ers jersey with his name and number 3.

He smiled at the camera, flashing his trademark cool teeth. He thanked God, family, friends, coaches and fans, saying it was the happiest and most glorious moment of his life. "I've always dreamed of being in the NBA and being able to compete and learn with the best players.

I am excited to be a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, and I will do everything I can to help this team win. I know it's a big challenge, but I'm not afraid of any challenge, I'm afraid of no challenge. I believe I have the ability to be a great player and I will show that with my actions."

Iverson began his legendary journey in the NBA.
