History of mobile phone design industry

Since 1990, Hangzhou Communication Equipment Factory of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of China signed a contract with MOTOROLA. Hangzhou Communication Equipment Factory manufactured mobile phones for MOTOROLA by SKD(main components), which opened the prelude to the development of China's mobile phone industry.

From 1993 to June 1999, mobile phone manufacturers successively entered China, and the market share of China's local mobile phone brands Orient Communications, Xochua, KECO Construction, TCL and Waveguide also grew rapidly from 3% in 1999 to 30% in 2002. The continuous growth of Chinese mobile phone brands led to the rapid development of mobile phone foundry industry. In the early stage of development, Taiwan's mobile phone ODM (commission design and manufacturing) industry cut into the mobile phone industry from the PC industry, relying on the advantages of the notebook and EMS industry chain, and cut into the mobile phone contract manufacturing industry through subsidiaries, including Quanta, Compal, Hua Guan, Flextronics and Hon Hai (FIH). 2.5G era intelligent machine, with the TI platform +Intel chipset model, Intel and Microsoft cut into the mobile phone industry, HTC is the biggest beneficiary, with the strong support of Microsoft, in the windows phone platform intelligent machine /PDA market accounted for the largest proportion. Subsequently, the launch of MTK turnkey solution solved the problem of platform selection of Chinese mobile phone design companies, and promoted the rise of China's mobile phone industry in the 2.5G era of smart phones. In 2007, Apple entered the mobile phone market, which had a significant impact on Nokia, Motorola, Sony, Ericsson and other high-end markets. 4G smartphones in China's mobile phone market began to start in 2013. Huawei, OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi began to grow rapidly through open market channels.
