The third big game comes from talent.

To understand this, we have to mention that the source of Zhang Rujing is quite deep, and another Chang Zhongmou who is also known as the "semiconductor godfather".

The two lawsuits with TSMC, in essence, reflect not the "two" between the personal contradictions, but the chip industry "talent competition." Chang's only complaint about Chang Ru-ching may be that Chang Ru-ching took away a group of old subordinates from the World University and poached more than 100 engineers from TSMC. "Taiwan's people are running out," Chang complained publicly.
Their experience at Texas Instruments taught them both the importance of a strict American-style approach to management and corporate values. For example, Chang binds TSMC with four core values: integrity, commitment, innovation, and customer trust, while SMIC's values are "integrity, customer service, quality, execution, innovation, and team."

Zhang Rujing also naturally tried to localize this set of values in SMIC. When he brought excellent engineers from all over the world to Shanghai, he put forward the slogan of "Each master should teach two students", which led to the improvement of local engineers' ability. Zhang Rujing later recalled: "Now the domestic semiconductor people, many are SMIC cultivation."
The ups and downs of Fairchild Semiconductor has clearly shown everyone that in the semiconductor industry, how the future of cutting-edge talents will determine the ebb and flow of competitive power of enterprises, and Chang's fear may be derived from this. Although there is not much to say about Zhang Rujing, one detail shows the old man's understanding of talent.
He has publicly commented on Liang Mon-song, another key player in the semiconductor industry under his command, who joined SMIC in 2017 and is a former general of TSMC: "I have always had a good feeling for Liang Mon-song, and the only reason why his good feeling has been discounted is that he seems to run around." This provocative comment seems to convey a certain attitude of Chang without any trace.
But for Mr Chang, the game with TSMC seems to have gone after he left SMIC, leaving the problem to domestic chipmakers, including SMIC.
Many years later, Zhang Rujing would often think back to the days when she first arrived in Shanghai. He remembered that at that time, a leader said to him: "Dr. Zhang, this project you are doing has not been done before, when you go forward, there are mines everywhere, you will not stop walking?" It doesn't matter, we'll go around."

In 2000, Zhang Rujing finally realized his desire to build a factory in the north, and SMIC and Shanghai Zhangjiang became the origin of his business
This passage gave Zhang Rujing a great inspiration, and in the days after, whenever he faced challenges and difficulties, he always tried to overcome them, and when he could not overcome them, he would bypass it and continue to move forward. "Game" is the proposition of Zhang Rujing's life, he always needs to seek balance between the forces of the parties, if not, choose to sacrifice their own personal interests, so "give up" and "leave" for Zhang Rujing, not to escape, but a helpless completion, and completion is to better move forward.
