The 2023 BWF World Tour Finals will be staged in Hangzhou on December 13. Tonight, the five events of the finals were drawn in groups, and Shi Yuqi was divided into the same group with An Sailong and Naraoka Koda.
The final uses a combination of group stage and elimination stage, the eight players/pairs of each event are assigned to 2 groups for a single round of competition, the top two groups get the opportunity to advance to the final four, and then through the semifinals and finals to produce the final champion.
Shi Yuqi and the No. 1 seed of men's singles Kota Naraoka were drawn into the men's singles Group A, along with Olympic champion An Sai Long and Indonesia's strong Jin Ting; Kuyu's other men's singles player, Li Shifeng, and the second seed, Jhonathan of Indonesia, are in Group B, along with Denmark's Antonsen and Thailand's Khun Ravut.
Chen Yufei and teammate Han Yue are in the women's singles Group B, which also includes Spain's Marin and the United States' Zhang Beiwen; Ahn, seeded No. 1, of South Korea, will face teammate Kim Jia En, Chinese Taipei's Dai Ziying and Indonesia's Mariska in the group stage.
Kuyu's two men's doubles pairs, Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang, Liu Yuchen/Ou Xuan Yi, Japan's Baomu Zorang/Kobayashi Yugo and Malaysia's Xie Dingfeng/Su Weiyi, also met in Group B of the two Indonesian pairs, Alfian/Adianto and Fikri/Maulana. The other two men's pairs in Group B are Kang Min-hyuk/Suh Seung-jae of South Korea and Astrup/Rasmussen of Denmark.
Women's doubles No. 1 seed Chen Chenchen/Jia Yifan and teammates Liu Shengshu/Tan Ning, who are participating in the year-end finals for the first time, have been drawn in Group A, which also includes Indonesia's Rahayu/Siti and Japan's Maisuke Matsumoto/Kazuka Nagahara; Two South Korean pairs, Kim So-young/Kong Hee-yong and Baek Ha-na/Lee So-hee, were placed in Group B, along with Japan's Narumi Matsuyama/Chiyang Shida and Thailand's Chong Gong Phan/Ravinda.
Mixed doubles No. 1 seed Feng Yan-chee/Huang Dong-ping has been drawn in Group A with Japan's Yuta Watanabe/Yousa Higashino, Thailand's Tek Cha-po/Sassi Li and Malaysia's Tan Tang-Kit/Toh Yi Wei. In Group B, "IELTS Group" Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong will face Hong Kong duo Tang Chun-man/Xie Young-Suk and two South Korean pairs: Seo Seung-jae/Chae Yu-jeong and Kim Won-ho/Jung Na-eun.
