The Badminton World Championships kicked off in Tokyo, Japan

The 2022 World Badminton Championships were held at the Tokyo Arena on the 22nd, and all Chinese players won the first day of the competition, advancing smoothly.

The first Chinese team to compete was women's singles player Han Yue, who defeated French player Qi Xuefei 21:14 and 21:15. Han Yue was originally scheduled to face seventh seed Sindu in the second round, but due to the Indian star's injury withdrawal, Han Yue advanced directly to the third round, facing the winner between his teammate Wang Zhiyi and Danish player Christopher.

On August 22nd, Han Yue celebrated her score in the game.

After finishing in the quarterfinals at last year's World Championships, Han Yue said, "Now I hope to meet up with Xiao Wang (Wang Zhiyi) and let the Chinese players come to the end."

The three men's singles players from the Chinese team who participated in this year's World Championships have all advanced. In 2018, the runner up of the World Championships, Shi Yuqi, returned to the field after a 10 month hiatus. Despite falling behind in the first game, he defeated Azerbaijan's player De Vykayo with a score of 22:20 and 21:10, winning his first game since his comeback. After the game, he only gave his performance "6 points".

In the other two men's singles matches, Lu Guangzu defeated the world's 52nd ranked English veteran Pandy with a score of 21:9, 13:21, and 21:14. Zhao Junpeng won without a fight due to the withdrawal of Nigerian player Opeyori.

On August 22nd, Lu Guangzu returned the ball during the game.

Lu Guangzu, who participated in the World Championships for the third time, said that he had already prepared a plan to play against the wind before the game. Therefore, after losing the second game, he changed his tactics in the third game, suppressed the opponent's net rubbing, and turned the situation around.

"In major tournaments like the World Championships, everyone has maintained their best form. If they are not careful, they may lose," said Lu Guangzu.

Other Chinese team players who made their debut on that day were also women's doubles duo Liu Xuanxuan and Xia Yuting. This pair of "00s" defeated Brazilian duo Samia Lima and Jacqueline Lima 21-7 in just 26 minutes. The two will face their teammates Du Yue and Li Wenmei in the next round.
