Guo Yu Men's Singles Triple World Championships Successfully Promoted to Zhao Junpeng, Unfortunately Defeated and Difficult to Break Through

The 28th Badminton World Championships ended their first day of competition in Copenhagen, Denmark. On that day, the Chinese team only had four men's singles players competing, achieving 3 wins and 1 loss. Among them, Zhao Junpeng, the 27 year old runner up of the previous season, lost to Malaysian rookie Huang Zhiyong and has not broken through the first two rounds on the international stage for a year.

This competition will be held from August 21st to 27th local time, with a total of 365 athletes from 56 teams participating. The Chinese team has won 18 spots in five individual events, with a total of four spots for men's singles, women's singles, and men's doubles, and three spots for women's doubles and mixed doubles respectively, with a total of 28 athletes participating.

On the first day of the competition, Guoyu only had four male singles players competing, with all three of the top ranked players in the world winning: the sixth ranked newcomer Li Shifeng swept a Kazakh player; Shi Yuqi, ranked eighth, encountered danger in the first game and defeated Spanish player Luis 23-21, 21-8; Ranked 14th, Lu Guangzu faced Dutch player Kewell and struggled to turn the tables in the second game, passing the first round with a score of 21-15 and 22-20.

After the game, Shi Yuqi said that the first game of the competition is usually not easy to play. "The opponent's attack is quite sharp, and I am not familiar with his overall technical and tactical play. At first, it was a bit out of sync with the rhythm, so losing points was faster."

However, he also stated that he had made contingency plans for the corresponding situation in the pre match preparation, "try not to make mistakes, carry more shots, and there may be a turning point." Lu Guangzu, on the other hand, stated that he was the side that entered the state quickly in the game, but he was not able to adjust in time when facing changes in the opponent in the next game. Fortunately, he changed his tactics and won a narrow victory with the coach's reminder.

In another match, Zhao Junpeng, ranked 26th in the world, suffered a tough battle and lost to the Malaysian powerhouse ranked 22nd, Huang Zhiyong, who had defeated the world's number one Anselon in this year's All England Open, with a score of 19-21 and 24-26.

Last year, Zhao Junpeng won consecutive victories over talented players such as Srikante, Li Zijia, and Prannoy at the World Championships, advancing to the semi-finals unexpectedly. But in the subsequent matches, Zhao Junpeng "crossed seasons" and never made it to the quarterfinals again, including the first two rounds of the current World Championships, which have stopped for 13 consecutive stops.
