The World Championships were extremely cold: China's badminton world number one collapsed with a bang, losing 1-2 championships, and the South Korean combination made history

The final championship battle of the 2023 Badminton World Championships has arrived. Today, among the five events, Guoyu has advanced to the finals in two of them, namely mixed doubles and women's doubles. The world's top ranked Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong have advanced to the finals, but they have won 2-0 in the previous matches, especially in the semi-finals against Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin. The IELTS combination has been at a disadvantage in the previous matches.

The IELTS duo advanced to the final of the World Championships for the fourth time, and successfully won the championship in the first three finals. The final opponents were Xu Chengzai/Cai Youding, who defeated Watanabe Yongda/Dongye Yousha in the semi-finals 21-15 and 21-13, demonstrating good competitive form.

The IELTS duo had a match with Xu Chengzai/Cai Youding in the Sudirman Cup, with a 2-1 comeback and a decisive game of 21-8. In the final of this year's All England Open, the IELTS team also won 2-1, while the South Korean team's competitiveness in the Tokyo Olympic cycle was average. Over the past two years, their competitiveness has gradually improved and they are currently ranked fourth in the world.

In the first game, the South Korean team played actively and decisively, leading 6-4. The IELTS team appeared somewhat passive and had been chasing points, but Zheng Siwei's form was not ideal and his attack did not play well. Huang Yaqiong's form was quite good, with good control in the front court and the courage to press down on the attack in the back. The South Korean team played steadily with some ferocity, winning 21-17.

In the second inning, the team fell behind in the beginning and scored consecutive counterattacks. They had a stable attack and excellent defense, and they defended high-quality balls several times, which surprised the South Korean team. They led the team 11-6 into the interval and continued to score. Zheng Siwei's form had gradually emerged, becoming more and more brave as he fought, and he managed to make a comeback 21-10.

In the decisive game, the South Korean team fought fiercely, achieving 4-1, while the IELTS team made consecutive mistakes and the score reached 7-1. Finally, Zheng Siwei scored a backcourt shot in the middle. The South Korean team kept a close eye on the receiver and dared to press down on the first shot. They led the IELTS team 11-5, followed by 16-8 and caught up to 17-12, but the difference in points was still too big. They lost the game 18-21.

Xu Chengzai/Cai Youding's first championship made history. For South Korean badminton teams, the last time they won the mixed doubles championship at the World Championships dates back to the 2003 Birmingham World Championships, when Kim Dong wen/Lo Jing min won the championship.

It should be said that Zheng Siwei still showed nervous performance. He won against them in the first two matches this year, but lost in the most important World Championships. There were a total of 9 doubles matches, with 9 wins and 0 losses in the IELTS combination. On the one hand, Zheng Siwei's form did not show, and on the other hand, the Korean combination did perform very well. Not only in this game, but also in this World Championships, their performance was perfect.

Continuously defeating the top three in the world rankings, defeating Thailand's former World Champion Pwara Nukoro/Taratanacha in the quarter finals, defeating Japanese duo Watanabe Yuda/Higashino Yusha in the semi-finals, and defeating the best performing IELTS duo of the year in the final, this champion has a high value.
