The top 10 most profitable Hollywood movies of 2022 are out -- and who else but Avatar 2 should make the list?

The annual list of "Hollywood's Top 10 Most profitable Movies" is coming! During the epidemic, the list was suspended for more than two years, and in 2022, as the global film market slowly recovers, the enthusiasm of movie audiences has also risen.

In this year's top 10, Disney topped the list with four films, Universal had three, Paramount had two, Warner had one, and SONY had none. "Avatar 2" "Top Gun 2" is no surprise, the box office performance is also three MCU films, one DC film, two animated films, and one horror film - the only pure original IP film

"Avatar: The Way of Water" results in any year in recent years is cracked, 2022 "Hollywood's top ten most profitable films" deserved the top position, 2.3 billion US dollars of global box office beat "Top Gun 2" 1.49 billion.

In the history of Hollywood, "Avatar 2" such a production mode of film is rare, admittedly, "Avengers 3" "Avengers 4", "The Matrix 2" "The Matrix 3" are all back-to-back shooting, but like "Avatar" series, 17 years to shoot 4 sequels, at least Hollywood is unprecedented, not to mention, "Avatar 2" has also survived two major historical events: the pandemic and Disney's acquisition of Fox.

In 2013, 20th Century Fox, which had not yet been acquired, gave the green light for a sequel to "Avatar," after all, Cameron had two box-office hits in his hands, "Avatar" and "Titanic," and he and Fox were negotiating smoothly.

At CinemaCon in 2016, Cameron himself announced that the series would expand from three sequels to four, each taking place in a different world, with a second film about water, a third about fire, and a fifth returning to Earth.

Motion capture for the actors in the first two films began in earnest in September 2017, and filming began in the second half of 2019, before being interrupted by the pandemic in March 2020.

Cameron himself has told foreign media that Avatar 2 needs to be the third or fourth highest grossing film of all time to break even, and it currently sits in third place ($2.3 billion) behind Avatar ($2.9 billion) and Endgame ($2.79 billion).

He is now confident that Avatar 2 has done well enough for Disney to allow him to continue working on the rest of the sequels for the next six or seven years. Avatar 3 will be released on December 20, 2024, Avatar 4 on December 18, 2026, and Avatar 5 on December 22, 2028. Let's keep waiting!
