Golden Hollywood

"In my memory, Los Angeles is golden, always sunny, with beautiful beaches and tall palm trees," Zhou said in an interview before the show.

1930s style shoes, disco platform sandals become eye-catching pieces of the big show, with leg warmers for more athletic energy.

CHANEL's early spring collection has long been famous for traveling to resorts around the world, but few people know where this series came from.

Now seems very familiar with the "early spring vacation series", that is, Cruise Collection, in which "Cruise" means yacht vacation. As the name suggests, this collection is intended for the leisure class who travel on yachts.

CHANEL was the first brand to create this concept.

In 1919, Gabrielle Chanel realized that her wealthy clients liked to go on holiday to the Mediterranean in the middle of winter and needed new outfits for the trip. So they created a range of lightweight and comfortable clothes for them to wear on yachts and at the beach.

Thus came the world's first early spring resort collection.

After joining CHANEL in 1983, Karl Lagerfeld revived this almost forgotten design concept, developing an early spring resort collection independent of the haute couture line.

This series continues to today, it is no longer the exclusive use of leisure class traveling by yacht or private jet, but also can provide women traveling to warm places in winter with easy, easy to wear, suitable for travel clothing, for women who have no time to travel, but also have high practical wear.

Caroline de Maigre, the Muse of the brand, said that she loved the idea of travel in the early spring collection, and it was fun for Virginie Viard to draw inspiration from a region and its history and then connect it to CHANEL's style rules.

This is why the brand chose Los Angeles as the inspiration for its 2023/24 early spring resort collection. The Hollywood film industry and West Coast lifestyle can inject fresh energy into the design of the new season.

At the same time, Los Angeles is also tied to the film industry that CHANEL has supported for many years.

For nearly a century, CHANEL has continued to contribute to the development of this "seventh art" by creating screen shapes for actresses and contributing to the creation of films. In China, from the FIRST Youth Film Exhibition to the Green Onion Program initiated by director Li Shaohong, the brand encourages the new generation of Chinese filmmakers, especially female filmmakers, through the support of a number of film-related projects.

During the Shenzhen press conference, CHANEL held a discussion on different themes. On November 1, a dialogue entitled "This scene of symbiosis" was held at Dolby Cinema in Shenzhen Bay. Directors Audrey Diwan, Zhang Dalei and Geng Zihan talk about the increasing number of women on screen in recent years, and how films connect with each other and change the way we see the world.

The second session took place on November 3, and was presented by Bruno Pavlovsky, President of CHANEL's Global Boutique Department, together with brand ambassadors Marion Cotillard, Zhou Xun and Liu Wen. Hosted by Tyler Brule, Director and Editorial Director of Monocle magazine, the event was attended by 170 invited students from schools of fashion, art, design and management.
