The next It Bag will be on the Givenchy runway this season

Givenchy presented its spring/Summer 2022 ready-to-wear collection in Paris.

This is the first offline show for Matthew M. Williams, the brand's creative director, since taking the helm of Givenchy last year.

Matthew M. Williams chose the La Defense Arena in Paris for the show, and in this huge venue, Matthew placed a very space-like oval light structure, which more than 70 models orderly walk through.

In Matthew M. Williams' designs, you can always see the interweaving of luxury and utility, complexity and simplicity, and imperfect humanity and beauty.

For Givenchy Spring/Summer 2022, Matthew perfectly combines traditional, classic and haute artisan skills to incorporate a large number of couture elements into this season's ready-to-wear collection.

Not only that, iconic elements and influential designs from every era of Givenchy's past are presented in a fusion way this season

Traditional stiff fabric cutting techniques are used in ready-to-wear design.

Throughout the season, the shapewear is actually inspired by the high-waisted decorative skirts in the archive of the brand's founder, Mr. Hubert de Givenchy. The neatly cut raw edges are cleverly used in the garment to add a modern quality to the overall look.

Suit jackets are another big look this season. Matthew zoomed in on the 1940s silhouette - shoulders are accentuated, waist and leg lines are tightened, Prince of Wales plaid is incorporated, and the iconic U-shaped metal latches appear several times.

For Givenchy's Spring/Summer 2022 ready-to-wear collection, Matthew wanted to build on traditional history and truly look to the future. And to do that, he chose to work with talent in many different fields.

Matthew says, "Josh has a completely different aesthetic than I do: rich color and brightness. It was a great opportunity for me to get out of my comfort zone and explore a new space."So in this series, we see Josh Smith's highly personal semi-abstract paintings interpreted through the texture lens of Matthew M. Williams.

The creative dialogue between the two finds its most powerful expression in a series of paintings by Josh Smith, which are applied to intricate knitwear and leather tops, some covered with transparent fabric filters printed with similar patterns. This season's shoe design is also very experimental and innovative, with the traditional clog shape to create a super long tube style and short, the heel of the shoe in TPU material integrated casting for extreme comfort.

This time, a new all-knitted shoe made of wear-resistant material is also launched. The knitted wrap design from the upper to the sole is a new experimental work created by Williams, with both comfort and silhouette. The women's shoes this time have metal 4G decorative details, presented in a classic and exquisite sandal style.

Last June, Givenchy announced that designer Matthew M. Williams had joined the brand as the new creative director, responsible for the entire creative work of the men's and women's collections. After taking the helm, Matthew told the crowd about the image of women he wanted to create at Givenchy - "very elegant, powerful and chic."

Just a month ago, Beyonce, JAY-Z and his wife at Tiffany&Co. Tiffany's advertising blockbuster "All Love is everything", wearing Givenchy custom black dress to pay tribute to Audrey Hepburn in the "Breakfast at Tiffany's" classic style, re-engraved the history of the most classic little black dress shape, extremely elegant.Audrey Hepburn was a lifelong Muse and friend of Mr. Hubert de Givenchy.

Givenchy, who starred in almost all of Audrey Hepburn's films during her life, once said: "Givenchy's clothes are the only ones I feel myself in."This isn't the first time Matthew has paid tribute to Audrey Hepburn.Kendall Jenner was undoubtedly one of the best dressed on the red carpet at this year's Met Gala in her Givenchy 2021 haute couture collection.

This crystal beaded, floral embellished, embroidered translucent yarn strappy dress by Matthew was inspired by Audrey Hepburn's iconic look in the 1964 film My Fair Lady. For the After Party, Kendall Jenner wore another detachable red duchy satin strapless dress with an extra long train, a nod to Audrey Hepburn's iconic red look in the 1957 film Girly-Face.

From these brand highlight moments after Matthew took office, it can be seen that the 34-year-old American designer has recreated French chic refinement and luxury elegance through the reinvention and innovation of Mr. Hubert de Givenchy's classic designs.

More than elegance, Givenchy by Matthew M. Williams is synonymous with feminine power and edgy chic. This can also be seen in Kendall Jenner's two Met Gala looks, unlike Audrey Hepburn's white petticoat in My Fair Lady, Kendall Jenner's Met Gala red carpet look was more sexy, more avant-garde, and more in line with contemporary fashion trends.

At the same time, it is not difficult to find that After Party's red dress not only has laser cut square red bead embroidery, but also is paired with Baroque crystal inlaid silver G-chain series metal necklace, 4G metal chain decorated red satin clutch bag, And a white gold bracelet set with 352 diamonds created by Givenchy in collaboration with VARI.

These exaggerated, bold, and powerful accessories have become the signature pieces of Matthew's brand since he took office, showing female power. At the Met Gala After Party, Kendall held this handbag also appeared on the show this season, and was named "Kenny".

Featuring Matthew M. Williams' unique 4G metal chain and love lock as its signature decoration, It will surely be the next It Bag.Kenny wasn't the only outstanding bag this season.

Not only are the Neo Antigona handbags recreated on the basis of classic styles, but the brand's classic Antigona bags are replaced with Matthew M. Williams style 4G metal chain. At the same time, the CUT-OUT handbag, just released this year, has also "changed its body" on the show this season, replacing the original shoulder strap with a metal handle, making the entire bag body square and geometric.

The iconic V-shaped opening is still memorable, edgy and stylish.Today's Givenchy Women are elegant, sexy, chic and powerful, and Givenchy by Matthew M. Williams has achieved the perfect balance between trend and luxury.
