Spring/summer women's corset collection

The corset is a classic work of Alexander McQueen, which can be traced back to the early days of the brand.

Originally a narrow Victorian waist silhouette to define a woman's body, this classic design has since been subverted with a variety of creative interpretations, from moulded leather to polished wood to sharply cut support structures, masculine cuts, and feminine lace.

In the Spring/Summer 2021 women's collection, the corset is paired with a wide asymmetrical hemline, which re-interprets the mid-20th-century style of dresses in a deconstructive design, giving the knitted fabric more shape and texture.

The collection uses soft and romantic color tones, such as ivory, chamomile yellow and tea rose.

The skirt is decorated with a three-dimensional corset print, focusing on the external expression of tension, but also a romantic expression of the prototype of the garment.

The black trompe l 'oeil print on a classic white T-shirt is also a nod to the corset element.

The corset has always existed in an invisible way.

In this series of works, Alexander McQueen tries to return to the ultimate essence of clothing and develop its own beauty.

The bodice is made of light pink knitted fabric, and the silhouette is more three-dimensional, rigid and flexible.

The other, with white cotton stitching, Outlines the silhouette of the corset and, in sharp contrast, is embellished on top of the pliable black leather.

The soft tea rose bodice, with the original bony structure to outline the pure sense of line, constitute the tone of the dress.

In addition, the corset silhouette is also printed in the form of a digital scan of Alexander McQueen's classic vintage corset dress to bring a new three-dimensional interpretation.

Through printing experiments, a variety of different shades were explored.

Once the hue on the skirt is determined, it is digitally printed to give it a three-dimensional texture.

The bone-in tulle corset is digitally scanned flat to create a three-dimensional visual effect on the layered tulle skirt.

The paper print of the corset was cut to make a plate and fitted on the body to test the visual effect of the print.

After the printing position is completed, the mini three-dimensional paper template is initially formed, which is used to determine the final effect of the fabric printing.

Taking into account the complexity of the body design, life-size paper samples were also produced to ensure the correct positioning of the printing.

Digitally scanned photographic images of the signature black bone-in tulle corset and tulle skirt are printed on laminated knit skirt and fiber grosgrain, respectively.
