70% of Chinese students sleep less than 80% of high school students are nearsighted
In the second half of last year, the National Health Commission, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance carried out the national myopia survey of children and adolescents in 2018.
The survey covered 1,033 kindergartens and 3810 primary and secondary schools across the country, with a total screening population of 1,117,400, including 69,200 kindergarten children (6 years old) and 1,048,200 primary and secondary school students of all grades. The survey drew three conclusions.
First, the incidence of myopia in Chinese children and adolescents is severe. In 2018, the overall myopia rate of children and adolescents in China was 53.6 percent. Among them, 14.5% were 6-year-olds, 36.0% were elementary students, 71.6% were middle school students, and 81.0% were high school students.
Second, the problem of myopia in the low age group is more prominent. In primary school and junior high school, the myopia rate increases rapidly with the increase of grades, from 15.7% in grade 1 to 59.0% in grade 6 in primary school,
from 64.9% in junior high school to 77.0% in Grade 3 in junior high school. Primary school and junior high school are the key age stages for the prevention and control of myopia in China.
Third, the problem of high myopia cannot be ignored. High myopia, that is, the degree of myopia is higher than 600 degrees, accounting for 21.9% of the total number of myopia, because high myopia is one of the blinding eye diseases, easy to lead to a series of serious complications, should be highly vigilant and attention.
The reason, the National Health Commission said that China's students myopia related harm factors widely exist.
For example, 67% of students spend less than 2 hours a day in outdoor activities, 29% of students spend less than 1 hour, 73% of students don't meet the standard of sleep time every day, homework time and continuous close eye time for too long,
unscientific use of electronic products and other bad eye use behaviors... The above factors have played a major role in the high myopia, which is an important factor that leads to the high myopia rate of children and adolescents in our country.
The National Health Commission has taken action to prevent and control myopia in children and adolescents
At the press conference, Zhang Yong, deputy director of the Disease Control Bureau of the National Health Commission, introduced five key work in the prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents across the country.
First, establish and improve the responsibility system for prevention and control work. Ma Xiaowei, head of the NHC, and Chen Baosheng, Minister of Education, urged local governments to implement a responsibility system and promote school health work, including prevention and control of myopia among children and adolescents.
The second is to standardize the diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents with refractive errors.
The Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Myopia, the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of amblyopia and the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and treatment of strabismus have been issued, providing technical standards for the scientific and standardized prevention and correction of myopia.
An expert guidance group for the prevention and treatment of myopia among adolescents has been set up to strengthen professional training and technical guidance for the prevention and treatment of myopia in medical and health institutions at all levels, and improve the service capacity for the prevention and treatment of myopia.
Third, strengthen the supervision and inspection of children and adolescents myopia. Issued the "Notice on carrying out the" Double Random "Sampling inspection Work of nursery institutions, off-campus training institutions, and school lighting in 2019", and increased the supervision and sampling inspection of nearsight-related teaching environment. In response to outstanding problems such as irregularities in the children's myopia correction market,
the State Administration of Market Supervision and other six departments issued the "Notice on Further Regulating the Work of Children and Adolescents' myopia Correction and Strengthening Supervision" to standardize the work of myopia correction.
The fourth is to do a good job of eye care and vision examination for children aged 0-6. China has issued the Notice on Doing a good job in Eye Care and Vision Examination for Children aged 0-6, organized a national work conference,
and held three training courses to promote the implementation of eye care and vision examination for children aged 0-6 in the national basic public health services in all localities, and ensured that the annual coverage rate of eye care and vision examination for children aged 0-6 has reached more than 90% since 2019.
It has also gradually promoted the establishment of electronic records, which are transferred in real time and managed dynamically with the enrollment of children and adolescents.
