On September 23, the 19th International Myopia Conference (IMC) opened in Changsha, China, with more than 500 foreign experts and scholars from more than 50 countries and regions in 6 continents coming to China. Dr. Amanda Davis, President of the Western Pacific Region of Prevent Blindness International, spoke at the event and pointed out that myopia is becoming a global crisis, with half of the world's population expected to suffer from myopia by 2050.
She expressed the hope that through the conference, the issues related to how to deal with myopia in the future will be deeply discussed and innovative solutions will be sought for this social and economic development problem.
Professor Christine Wildsoet, Chair of the International Academic Committee of IMC, delivered a speech at the scene, she said that the World Myopia Conference brings together scholars and experts from around the world, hoping that through this platform, while exchanging knowledge, it can also help more patients clinically.
