Global optometry elites gathered in Xiaoxiang to discuss a new chapter on myopia prevention and control

Eye experts from all over the world gather in Star City to celebrate the feast of technological innovation.

On September 23, the 19th International Myopia Conference (IMC) opened in Changsha, China, with more than 500 foreign experts and scholars from more than 50 countries and regions in 6 continents coming to China. In Changsha and Sanya, we will exchange and share new ideas and research results in the field of myopia with our domestic counterparts.

It is worth mentioning that this year marks the 60th anniversary of IMC. The conference set up 11 free speech sessions, 9 invited theme forums and 1 academic debate, a total of more than 80 academic speeches and more than 400 poster presentations, its rich content, the scale of the grand, more than the previous year.

At the opening ceremony, Aier Ophthalmology released "Xiaoqingwei" myopia prevention lenses, wide area retinal diopter (VPR), etc., from myopia prevention and control products, refractive detection equipment and other aspects, to show the world the innovation ability and level of China's eye medical industry, leading the world's eye industry to develop a new future.

The World Nearsightedness Congress has opened in China

Since its inception, IMC has been committed to promoting the in-depth study of myopia. In terms of basic scientific research, IMC focuses on the causes and pathogenesis of myopia. In terms of clinical application, IMC focuses on the epidemiology, prevention and control methods, diagnosis and prediction of myopia.

In terms of translational research, it has attracted strong interest from experts in various fields, including optics, medicine, engineering, and computers. This comprehensive coverage from basic to clinical not only makes the academic achievements of IMC rich and diverse, but also provides a comprehensive solution to the problem of myopia.

"This is a grand occasion for academic exchanges, but also for international cooperation and friendship!" Jiang Difei, Vice governor of Hunan Provincial People's Government, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He said that he looked forward to taking this meeting as an opportunity to enhance exchanges and interactions and deepen friendly cooperation.

It is also hoped that through systematic planning and scientific policies, we can accelerate the construction of a mass prevention and control system for myopia, make every effort to fight the battle for the prevention and control of myopia among adolescents, comprehensively promote the health of children and adolescents, and make positive contributions to the cause of human eye health.

Professor Fan Xianqun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Dean of the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, delivered a speech on behalf of industry experts. He said that he hoped that through this conference,

the wisdom and consensus of experts could be gathered to improve visual health management measures, so that more research results could benefit the people and make new and greater contributions to healthy China and the human health community.

Dr. Amanda Davis, President of the Western Pacific Region of Prevent Blindness International, spoke at the event and pointed out that myopia is becoming a global crisis, with half of the world's population expected to suffer from myopia by 2050.

She expressed the hope that through the conference, the issues related to how to deal with myopia in the future will be deeply discussed and innovative solutions will be sought for this social and economic development problem.

Professor Christine Wildsoet, Chair of the International Academic Committee of IMC, delivered a speech at the scene, she said that the World Myopia Conference brings together scholars and experts from around the world, hoping that through this platform, while exchanging knowledge, it can also help more patients clinically.
