2022 Balenciaga bag real and fake identification method

Balenciaga, one of our favorite brands. There are always great new designs, but we still can't get enough of Balenciaga's vintage bags especially the Classic City Bag, a bag that is still produced in many sizes today. But the old fashioned version is better and more affordable - we like it and our wallets better!
With its incredible popularity, Balenciaga has become one of the most copied brands in the world and one of the most complicated to certify. Always check the authenticity before buying a used Balenciaga bag or buying your Balenciaga bag from a reliable source.

How to identify a genuine Balenciaga bag? How do you know if the bag you buy is genuine? We'll tell you so you can hit the streets quickly with your (genuine) Balenciaga bag!

tag
The interior label is printed on a metal nameplate or leather tag. From 2001 to 2008, metal labels were made of sterling silver, although today they are made of nickel. The handbag's style number is listed on the front or back of the label; Sometimes it will be on both sides.

With the exception of City, First, Work (since 2005) and Weekender, all Balenciaga biker bags have only leather tags. These four models only come with a silver label if they have classic hardware. Until fall/winter 2008, the silver label was made of real silver with a silver "925" stamp in the lower right corner.

Balenciaga serial number
The number in a designer bag is not only a small part of the correct certification, but often reveals the time or season the bag was made.

The leather label is engraved with Balenciaga and has numbers on the back. Some Balenciaga bags have a metal nameplate with a serial number. This indicator shows the year the bag was produced. Using a Balenciaga bag with a metal label, it is easy to find out which season the Balenciaga bag was made in. Newer bags without metal plates have letters printed on the back of the label, as well as the serial number or Balenciaga authenticity code, also known as Balenciaga.

S/S = spring/summer
F/W = autumn/winter

zipper
Balenciaga bags have the Lampo logo on the back of the zipper on the inside. In 2010, Balenciaga's rose gold accessory bag was fitted with a zipper without the Lampo logo. It is said that Lampo did not make rose gold hardware at that time. The zipper should be imprinted rather than engraved with the Lampo logo, in addition to italics and underlining. But be careful, as Lampo zippers are also often used in counterfeit Balenciaga bags. The fact that the bag has the correct zipper does not automatically mean that it is a genuine Balenciaga bag. In 2014, Balenciaga replaced the Lampo logo with a capital B.

Dabao
The shoulder strap closure of Balenciaga bags is an important feature of the bag. The bag, with metal hardware at the end of the shoulder strap, should have a round and organic shape. The turn-over part should be smooth and flat. Bags with fake Balenciaga bags often look like a pendant.

rivet
Until 2005, the rivets on Balenciaga bags were rounded and slightly protruding. Since 2005, the rivet has had deep grooves. Many fake Balenciaga rivets have shallow dents that resemble a square or shallow crescent shape.
