On May 25, 246 families of primary and secondary school students from Changsha gathered at Hunan Normal University to participate in the "Changsha Parent-Child Science Carnival" of the 2024 "National Science and Technology Workers' Day" series of activities. They learned through experience, explored through interaction, and discovered the mysteries of science through observation.
Hunan Normal University has abundant science popularization resources, including 2 national science popularization bases, including Plant and animal Herbarium and planetarium, and 7 provincial science popularization bases,such as local science Museum.
The school actively carries out science popularization work every year, and the national and provincial science popularization bases are open to the public free of charge.
This activity is also an important content of the National Science and Technology Week, which sets up four major sections: popular science performance show, opening ceremony, field scientific research, and interactive science museum visit.
On the morning of the 25th, after the opening ceremony, 246 groups of families were grouped according to the corresponding groups and followed the lead teacher to participate in the field scientific examination and science museum visit and interaction.
The field expedition was organized by ecology and geology experts of Hunan Normal University and college students volunteers of the Bud Science Popularization volunteer team. Based on the existing conditions and resources of Yuelu Mountain,
Hunan Normal University and Peach Lake, the science popularization map was drawn and three scientific exploration routes were carefully designed. Under the guidance of tutors, parents and children walk into nature and feel the experience of scientific and technological workers in the field.
The science Museum includes four venues, including Hunan Normal University Animal Herbarium, Botanical Herbarium, Geological museum and Astronomical Museum. Parents and children can not only visit the largest astronomical telescope in Hunan Province, the last live tiger specimen on Yuelu Mountain, but also experience treasure hunting, plant rubbings, hand-making and so on.
In order to carry forward the spirit of scientists and do a good job in science and education in the "double reduction", according to the "million" action deployment arrangement of the Provincial Science and Technology Association and the Provincial Education Department,
the Municipal Science and Technology Association jointly held the event with Hunan Science and Technology Media Group, Hunan Normal University College of Life Sciences, the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the Municipal Women's Federation, and the Municipal Customs and Communication Commission.Parent-child science Carnival was held in Changsha
