"Hardcore" space scientists talk to Hong Kong university students

After the China Manned Space Project delegation entered four primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong on November 29, mainland "hardcore" space scientists came to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on the afternoon of November 30 to talk about the vast sky with teachers and students.

The exchange venue of the two schools was full, and a total of about 1,000 teachers and students came to "chase stars". The speeches of the members of the delegation were full of dry goods and golden sentences. The laughter and applause were continuous. The students asked questions one after another and had wonderful exchanges.

"The astronaut is one in ten thousand, the process has to go through multiple rounds of selection, may I ask in the long preparation and waiting, how can we never give up?" At the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a student asked Liu Boming, astronaut of the Shenzhou-12 crew, questions.

"In half a year, I wrote 400,000 words of notes." Citing his own experience in winning space missions, Liu replied that he had written the knowledge of various training subjects on paper, pasted it all over the room, and finally closed his eyes and could reveal the knowledge one by one.

He sent a message to the students present: "After the goal is clear, there is only one left - persist."

The journey of the dream stars is the focus of the students, and they want to know what it is like to walk outside the earth.

"Sometimes space is dark and scary. But every star in the sky, hanging on the horizon is beautiful. But all we can see are stars, and not every star we can name." Liu Boming understood a truth: only by shining on each other, can the stars shine.

In the development of China's space industry, Hong Kong has not been absent. The two universities visited by the delegation have contributed wisdom to the country's exploration of the mysteries of the universe, and Hong Kong has also gained greater opportunities in the development of the national space industry.

At the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Zhang Lu, the astronaut of the Shenzhou 15 crew, revealed that all astronauts have done one thing in space - look for their motherland through the porthole, and look for their respective hometown.

"Why should we love our country and our hometown?" Zhang Lu believes that a strong country can realize personal dreams, and hometown is the cradle of life. "All our astronauts are striving to refresh China's height and climb the technological peak."

"In the past, Hong Kong children said that when they grow up to become astronauts, it is a distant thing. But today, it's an achievable dream." The Secretary for Education of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Gloria Choi, said in the exchange that young people in Hong Kong will further develop their potential and actively participate in national scientific research and space development.

Chen Long, a PhD student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, has developed an innovative virtual display system for landing zones on the moon and Mars as the main research force. Seeing the astronauts this time, he was more determined to devote himself to the development of the space industry. "I hope to have the opportunity to be a payload specialist in the future and bring the team's research to the space station."

"When I was a child, I was very excited when I first saw Shenzhou V manned spacecraft, but I did not expect to see the astronauts in person today." Xu Weifan, a PhD student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, is motivated to contribute to the national space development and realize his personal dream in the national space industry.

A space science popularization feast and space spirit meal made the students' space enthusiasm high. After the show, the students were still immersed in the universe, and "space" was the high-frequency word they communicated.

Shenzhou 13 crew astronaut Wang Yaping, Shenzhou 14 crew commander Chen Dong and other delegation members also participated in the on-site activities.
