Racial discrimination in the United States, and Olympic champions are not immune! Asian gymnasts sprayed with pepper: roll back to where you came from

"I am very angry, but I am powerless and unable to control it because they just left like that."

Gymnast Sunisa Lee said in an interview with CNN that in October this year, while waiting for a car with other Asian female friends, she was sprayed with pepper by people passing by in a car. The person in the car even shouted at them, "Get back where you came from.".

Report on Sunisa Lee's experience of racial discrimination.

18-year-old Sunisha Lee won the gold medal in the women's individual all-around gymnastics final at this year's Tokyo Olympics with her outstanding performance. Despite the honors she has won for the United States, she cannot escape the fate of discrimination. In fact, for Asian American athletes, this is not an exception.

The tentacles of racial discrimination are pervasive

In August of this year, ABC News in the United States published an article titled "Deepening racial hatred, Asian American athletes shouting," We've had enough of being ignored. "It listed various forms of racial discrimination experienced by multiple Asian American athletes on and off the field.

Nba basketball player lin shuhao revealed that a player once called him "COVID-19" directly on the court; Korean American snowboarder Chloe Kim said, "People will belittle my athletic achievements because of my Asian identity. Some people have secretly messaged me on Twitter, asking me to go back to China and stop competing for gold medals with white American girls on the team.".

Chinese American basketball player Natalie Zhou once published an article on ESPN expressing her sense of insecurity:

"For a long time, I was afraid to go out. I always remained vigilant because I didn't know how others would treat me. People with similar faces to me were targeted, and others' eyes put us in danger."

Just because of an Asian face, a nail like gaze shot over, and insulting words flooded into social media, all sports achievements were turned into nothing.

Celebrities are still like this, and ordinary Asian people cannot escape the big web of racial discrimination.
