Balenciaga returns to haute couture

Just the day before yesterday, we had one of the most talked about and talked about shows in the entire fashion circle - Balenciaga's return to the haute couture collection.

This is the first time since the founder Cristobal Balenciaga closed the haute couture house in 1967, after 53 years, the whole show is very interesting.

Artistic director Demna Gvasalia brought back iconic elements such as classic jackets, hourglass silhouettes, V-shaped lapels and shawls from the early couture collection.

While paying tribute to the classics, he even integrated street-style items such as T-shirts, hoodies, hardshell jackets and bathrobes into a new couture collection.

In fact, the show has already begun to build, Balenciaga without warning to clear all social media content, making this several delays in the launch of the high-end collection even more anticipated.

01.

Returned to the original site after 53 years

The return of the show is designed to pay tribute to Balenciaga's revered haute couture history, and even the show was chosen in the former location of the high venue - 10 Rue George V in Paris.

Every aspect of the show reveals Balenciaga's original elements, and the interior has been restored to how it looked at the time.

There are no strong lights, no loud music, models come out from behind the mirror doors, guests focus on the clothing and design, everything is like a return to the 1950s and 1960s brand salon scene.

02.

Recreate the classic number plate

You can see bits and pieces of Cristobal Balenciaga's time at the helm in the show, where models are still shooting with digital signage as in the past, presenting familiar silhouettes and cuts that are still pioneering today.

03.

Cristobal Balenciaga is the soul of the brand itself

Mr. Balenciaga has left too many treasures for the brand, even the fresco wool, mohair, cashmere and other suit fabrics he has worn have become an important design inspiration.

This season's high order, Demna Gvasalia found Mr. Balenciaga used to use high-end suit customization brand Huntsman, mutual cooperation to customize.

Demna Gvasalia also used the initials C.B. of Cristobal Balenciaga to embroider personal pieces such as silk ties, poplin shirts or gloves in hand-embroidered forms.

04.

A tribute to a classic half a century later

Demna Gvasalia has done extensive research in Balenciaga's archives, combining Mr. Balenciaga's architectural and sculptural designs, his avant-garde sense of minimalism and his own street style to give a new life to the revived haute couture collection.

Some of the designs are directly copied from the couture collections of the time, with Demna Gvasalia combining Cristobal Balenciaga's iconic silhouette designs with her own style.

Hand-printed polka dot silk chiffon dresses that perfectly match the original recreate the elegance of Balenciaga Couture.

In collaboration with Atelier Jean-Pierre Ollier, Maison Lesage, Maison Lemarie and Atelier Montex, the collection recreates the luxury of the past with intricate embroidery techniques. There is also a floral embroidered gown inspired by a vintage couture piece once made for Jacqueline Kennedy.

05.

That's how geniuses play with color

Demna Gvasalia also applied Mr. Balenciaga's mastery of bold color scheme to different styles and silhouettes, and the combination of bold color scheme and exaggerated silhouette balanced the retro and futuristic feeling in a delicate way.
