Mango mousse

Named "Spring of the Nation," the mango mousse depicts the warm spring atmosphere that breaks through the frozen soil. The mango mousse decorated with spring flowers is decorated with the unification flag of the Korean Peninsula to show the unity of the nation. Mango mousse is covered with a hard skin, and you need to break the skin to see the mousse inside, so as to visualize the reconciliation between the two Koreas.

Foreign media said South Korea wants to launch "food diplomacy" with North Korea: "To grasp its heart first grasp its stomach"

South Korean President Moon Jae-in plans to engage in high-level "gourmet diplomacy" while trying to persuade North Korean leader Kim Jong UN at the summit on Thursday.

South Korea seeks' gourmet diplomacy '

After the historic meeting between the leaders of North and South Korea, South Korea will host a lavish and meaningful banquet featuring ingredients from the former South Korean president's hometown, cold noodles from a famous North Korean restaurant and a striking potato cake - a reference to Kim Jong-un's time as a teenager in Switzerland.

Kim Eui-kyeom, a spokesman for South Korea's presidential Blue House, said: "The welcome banquet is intended to reflect the efforts of those who are committed to peace among our nation... We add a touch of sincerity by using ingredients from each of their hometowns or places of work."

Kim will hold face-to-face talks with Moon at the Peace House, a four-story building on the South Korean side, on Tuesday, and then attend a dinner in a banquet hall specially set up for the meeting.

It was the first inter-Korean summit in 11 years and the first to be held outside the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.
Dishes reflect the inter-Korean peace process

North and South Korea have completed the most detailed preparations for their leaders to meet at the "Peace House" in Panmunjom, including the timing of their first handshake.

The dinner between the two leaders was also carefully prepared to reflect the historic significance of the meeting. The South Korean government opened a special website on the Inter-Korean summit last week and released a detailed menu on the website on Monday. The slogan of the summit is "Peace, a new beginning."

Two dishes on the menu -- grilled white meat and fish and Swiss potato cakes -- symbolize the childhood of Mr. Moon, who grew up in the coastal city of Busan, and Mr. Kim, who attended boarding school in Switzerland as a teenager, the report said.

Other dishes are associated with people and places that have made significant contributions to the inter-Korean peace process, including the sea cucumber dumplings with Huanggu fish on Holyi Island, the hometown of former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2000 for his rapprochement efforts with Pyongyang.

The roast beef came from Seosan Ranch, where Chung Ju-young, former honorary chairman of Hyundai Group, visited North Korea in 1998 with a herd of cattle in what was called "cattle diplomacy."

The traditional Korean cold dish, cold octopus, comes from the hometown of Korean-born composer Yoon Isang. Yoon made several trips to North Korea to develop the country's classical music scene, eventually leading a group of South Korean musicians to Pyongyang in 1990 for a joint performance with North Korean artists.

At Mr. Moon's request, North Korea will send chefs from the Okryugwan restaurant in Pyongyang. With locations in China, Nepal, Thailand and Dubai, the chefs will bring noodle presses near the summit to serve the two leaders' dinner with freshly made cold meon, North Korea's signature dish, according to NPR.

The most daring dessert showcasing the idea of reconciliation will be a mango mousse decorated with a "unity flag." The dinner is served with two different types of traditional Korean wine, Miancheon Dujuan wine made with Jindalae flowers and glutinous rice, and Munbae wine, which has a history of hundreds of years.

I hope the potato cake brings back good memories

They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. South Korea appears to be trying to win the heart of North Korean leader Kim Jong UN by offering him his childhood Swiss potato cakes during their historic summit on May 27.

Reported that Kim Jong UN is said to have studied in Switzerland, the potato cake seems to remind Kim Jong UN of that carefree good times.

In many ways, it is a political victory for South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who has advocated closer ties with Pyongyang since his election last year.

South Korean officials have been rehearsing and preparing for the historic event, and the elaborate formal dinner, likely to be held on the top floor of the Peace House in the demilitarised zone, is part of their calculations.

Chung Dong-young, a former South Korean unification minister who negotiated with Mr. Kim's late father, Kim Jong Il, said in February that the young leader was likely open to dialogue because of his early experience abroad.
