From July 28 to October 4, the exhibition "Christian Dior, Designer of Dreams" will be held at Shanghai Long Art Museum. A total of 275 haute couture dresses and designs were exhibited, recalling the dream making process of Christian Dior himself, Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano, Raf Simons, Maria Grazia Chuiri and other designers.

In the depression era of material shortages after World War II, Christian Dior reinvigorated women's pursuit of beauty, and his first collection of works in 1947 caused a sensation, which kicked off the curtain of a new style clothing revolution.

The new silhouette of the broad-shouldered suit with the umbrella maxi dress allowed the girls to reveal their waists and accentuate their hips, making the lines extremely elegant. As time has passed, this most classic suit is still well preserved and displayed at this exhibition, telling the story of the beginning of the legendary journey.

The six creative directors after Mr. Dior also continue Dior's custom style with their designs. Big skirt, X shape of New Look and flower pattern are the classic elements that Dior has always used. On the basis of following the original style concept of the brand, the subsequent creative directors have added more creativity. With the perspective of various times to enrich the Dior style language, injected their own Dior imprint.

Christian Dior died of a heart attack in 1957, the same year 21-year-old designer assistant Yves Saint Laurent began to take charge of the overall situation, in 1957 Mr. Dior's last big show, nearly 1/3 of the clothes were completed by Yves Saint Laurent.

Young Yves Saint Laurent is not satisfied with traditional elegance, he boldly shortened the length of the hemline, so in his design, whether autumn winter or spring and summer collections have a more light temperament.

Gianfranco Ferre, the fourth creative director, laid the groundwork for the later more romantic and dramatic Dior, and after John Galliano took over Dior, this style was maximized, and the brand ushered in the most intense stage.

He broke the rigid and elegant image of Dior, focused on Eastern culture, and skillfully integrated various elements into a new Galliano-style aesthetic language. He brought Dior back to the altar with his unrestrained design and high-profile shows.

Unfortunately, Galliano was fired from Dior in 2011 for his drunken gaffe. In the ever-changing world of fashion, 15 years is a long time.

During this period, he left too many classic works and created countless peak moments for Dior. In this exhibition, we can also see a large number of Galliano's works, in the luxurious fashion he created, we can enjoy the most luxurious visual feast.

Raf Simons, who succeeded him after him, formed a strong contrast with the pirate Lord, a "extremely complex" and a "minimalist". Simons' design was largely re-created on the basis of the original Christian Dior style, advocating the freedom and release of contemporary women.

The documentary "Dior and I" tracks the whole process of Raf Simons' creation of his first haute couture collection after joining Dior. The elegant cut and the right flower print have been praised by many.

Maria Grazia Chiuri, the current head of Dior, has implanted the spirit of feminism into the original meaning of "women", Greek mythological goddesses, cultural symbols, and propaganda slogans. Such elements have become a source of inspiration for Maria, who uses dreamlike designs to tell her own female stories.

At CELINE HOMME's Spring/Summer 2021 show, Hedi Slimane created a group of California street boys for us. The show was presented in the form of a 12-minute video, although there was no audience, it still could not stop the models from radiating a rebellious teenage sense on the racing track.

THE use of coconut trees, animal prints, and the slogan print of "THE DANCING KID" are all Hedi's best practices, which appear many times in the series. The overall silhouette cut of this season's clothing becomes more inclusive of consumers' bodies and more adaptable, but the core of Hedi's style does not change, and it still has the taste of American rock.

At the end of the video, the boys wear jackets equipped with LED lights and walk in the twilight. The flashing neon light and interwoven light tracks create a dream-like night, and the boys' midnight carnival has just begun.
