For an agent, the more assignments they do, the greater the risk of exposure.

For an agent, the more assignments they do, the greater the risk of exposure. Because there are not many intelligence personnel who can lurk into Juntong, there is no need for Li Shiyu to perform the task naturally. Soon, after Juntong's pursuit plan was emptied again and again, some of the agents who had long been jealous of Li Shiyu began to examine his details.

This investigation, he propagandised revolutionary ideas in the Northeast Army many years ago, and his wife Sun Jingyun's early revolutionary experience, was also investigated.

However, at this time to easily catch Li Shiyu to interrogate, but it is not easy. For by this time he was already a major general. To arrest him, we have to go through Dai Li's consent.

As a result, a "disclosure letter" was directly sent to Dai Li's hands, which listed various suspicious places of Li Shiyu.

Dai Li is a good face of people, from the heart, he naturally do not want to believe that he praised in public, will be the underground party.

So, he found Li Guozhang, the inspector general of the Beiping Police Command, and asked him if he knew Li Shiyu's situation. I asked him because Li Shiyu engaged in revolutionary activities in the early years in the North. As a result, what Dai Li never expected was that Li Guozhang was actually an agent of our Party.

He suddenly said a lot of good words for Li Shiyu, and finally added: I did not expect the current factional struggle of Juntong, still so fierce. Li Guozhang's words, no doubt let Dai Li to Li Shiyu's doubts to a minimum, the attention to do a good job of internal unity on the issue.

So, a few days later, the agents who wanted to embarrass Li Shiyu received this message back: "Li Shiyu has done good work in the past to break into the enemy, and I know very well." What is his record in this Council? It must be thoroughly investigated and re-checked, and no arrest can be made!"

It is Dai Li such a return call, saved Li Shiyu's life. In March 1946, Dai Li died in a plane crash. The big spy who has been all-powerful for many years in the national army does not know the true identity of Li Shiyu until death.

Dai Li's "trust" gave Li Shiyu the opportunity to lurk in the last few months of Juntong. His service to our army during these months has been immense. That day, Mr. Li received an invitation from Liu Fangxiong, the deputy mayor of Shanghai, to visit.

He knew then that something might be wrong and that the trip would be very dangerous.

Fortunately, the organization had already settled his family in earlier. Before entering the vice mayor's house, Li Shiyu said to Agen, the driver who had followed him for many years: "After an hour, if I don't come out, you go home." Wait at my door for two or three days, and if anyone comes looking for me, tell them I'm under arrest!" Sure enough, as soon as he entered Liu Fangxiong's house, Li Shiyu lost his freedom.

It is worth mentioning that the driver Agen is really a good man. Agen was not actually a member of our party, but because of the favor he had received from Li Shiyu for many years, he had great respect for him. For the next few days, he stayed near Li's house every day, and whenever our party's intelligence agents came to spy nearby, he promptly notified and implied that the other party should go quickly.

Therefore, after Li Shiyu's arrest, no other comrades in his line were implicated.

The only one who suffered was Li Shiyu himself. After his imprisonment, he was arraigned again and again, pressed the weight, poured water, he has experienced. But he refused to admit that he was a Communist Party, and he knew that only in this way would he have the chance to be released in the future.

Three months later, Li Shiyu was transferred to Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai. Later, as the civil war became more and more intense, the military leadership did not care about him. In February 1949, the military was forced to release a group of prisoners. Li Shiyu, who was forgotten by Juntong, was also among them.

Two months later, Li Shiyu flew from Shanghai to Hong Kong, and then from Hong Kong to Beiping. Because of years in the hidden front, the ordinary cadres in Peiping did not know Li Shiyu at all.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Li Shiyu was placed in high positions until his retirement in 1982. On December 28, 1999, Li Shiyu died at the age of 91.

After all sorts of things were declassified, Li Shiyu got a resounding title: a bug. "Fifteen years of enemy camp fighting, swords and swords invisible war", this is a poem Li Shiyu wrote for himself. We don't know how many times Li Shiyu rubbed shoulders with death in these 15 years. What we can be sure of is that there must have been a force that sustained him during those days and nights. This power comes from: faith.
