the "Chemistry Top Student Training Program 2.0 Base" (hereinafter referred to as the "Base") of East China University of Science and Technology has been approved by the Ministry of Education for construction. Every year, 20 students are selected from the freshmen of chemistry, chemical engineering and materials through written tests and interviews, and Xiang Keheng is one of them.

This talent training program is based on the national first-class discipline of chemistry of East China University of Science and Technology, led by Tian He, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,

and established by a number of domestic and foreign masters and other superior teaching resources, aiming to cultivate chemical talents with national feelings and international vision,

who can climb academic peaks and lead human civilization. Aiming at the orientation of training top-notch innovative students, the "base" has formed a talent training model with unique characteristics and advantages of Huali.

Behind the "high allocation" of talent training resources, both the strong support of the university's first-class disciplines, but also from the mission of Huali to independently train top talents in basic disciplines.

Chemistry is a traditional dominant discipline of HuALI, which has been selected as a national first-class discipline and Shanghai Class II peak plateau discipline, ESI international ranking top0.3‰.

In the past 70 years, the chemistry major has led a number of teaching reform projects focusing on chemistry teaching and talent training, and has obvious advantages in talent training: In 2007, Applied Chemistry became one of the first national specialty construction points.

In 2010, it was approved as the Shanghai teaching team of Applied Chemistry, in 2015, it was approved as the comprehensive reform project of the specialty. In 2018, it was approved as the National Huang Danian Teachers Team and the New Engineering Research and Practice Project of the Ministry of Education.

The chemistry major has passed the Sino-Russian Joint international professional certification (Level 3), the applied Chemistry major has been selected as the national first-class undergraduate major construction point in 2019,

the Chemistry major has been selected as the national first-class undergraduate major construction point in 2021, and the virtual teaching and research Room of Engineering Chemistry Basic course has been approved by the Ministry of Education for the construction of virtual teaching and research room in 2021.

However, how to transform their own advantages into the driving force for the cultivation of top talents in chemistry is still a major issue.

To this end, the school has carried out a careful top-level design from determining the guiding ideology, formulating training programs to reforming the personnel training mode. The "Base" is guided by the principle of following the law of the growth of top talents in basic disciplines,

consolidating the theoretical foundation, improving the comprehensive quality, strengthening the innovation ability, and expanding the international vision. Academician Tian He is the leader, and Professor Qu Dahui, the dean of the School of Chemistry,

coordinates the resources inside and outside the school to implement the "knowledge exploration as the basis and capacity building as the core; Students as the center, the implementation of "one to one" tutorial system;

The Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly established a long-term mechanism of "top-notch talent training", and established a teaching steering committee of the top-notch talent program composed of 10 outstanding professors at home and abroad to determine the talent training objectives, design the training program structure and supervise the quality of talent training.

In addition to the strong faculty, the teaching and research platforms open to "base" students are also high-end and diverse, including the Feringa Nobel Prize Scientists Joint Research Center located on campus, the key laboratory of the Ministry of Education,

the International Joint laboratory and other research platforms. As well as the experimental platform of the national engineering chemistry experiment teaching center, the virtual simulation laboratory of the national chemical and chemical virtual simulation experiment center,

the analysis and test center, the open laboratory shared on campus, etc., there are also scientific research platforms of the Institute of Chemistry, the Institute of Pharmaceuticals and the Institute of Organic Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
