Green hydrogen instead of natural gas hydrogen production enterprises more energy saving and environmental protection

As the first large-scale green hydrogen production project in China, Sinopec Nova Xinjiang Green Hydrogen New Energy Co., Ltd. has been fully connected to the grid since August 30.

Nearly 2,000 tons of green hydrogen have been transported to Sinopec Tahe Refining and Chemical Co., LTD., all replacing the original natural gas hydrogen production, realizing the low-carbon development of modern oil processing and green hydrogen coupling.

In the 2# hydrogenation unit of the second operation Department of Refining of Sinopec Tahe Refining and Chemical Co., LTD., technician Zhang Haijun and colleagues are busy inspecting and adjusting the pressure of green hydrogen valve.

Zhang Haijun said that in the past, all the hydrogen used in oil refining is natural gas hydrogen production, which requires a certain pressure and temperature, the pressure is controlled by the compressor, and the temperature is guaranteed by the heating furnace, which is difficult to control and will produce a lot of carbon dioxide.

After using green hydrogen, workers can get the required pressure as long as they control the intake valve, which is very flexible, not only the labor intensity is reduced, but also the safety factor is improved.

Xinjiang Kuqa Green Hydrogen Demonstration project is the first large-scale use of photovoltaic power generation direct green hydrogen production project in China, electrolytic water hydrogen production capacity of 20,000 tons/year, hydrogen storage capacity of 210,000 cubic meters, hydrogen transport capacity of 28,000 cubic meters per hour,

All the 20,000 tons of green hydrogen produced annually are supplied to SINOPEC Tahe Refining and Chemical Co., LTD.

Green hydrogen refining is regarded as an important path for the chemical industry to achieve green transformation.

The green hydrogen produced by the Kuqa Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project in Xinjiang replaces the hydrogen produced by natural gas in Tahe Refining and Chemical industry, is used as a raw material for hydrogenation reaction, and finally enters oil products to achieve green refinery products.

The project can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 485,000 tons per year, which is the first large-scale application of green hydrogen refining, and has a major demonstration effect on the large-scale use of green hydrogen by refining and chemical enterprises to achieve carbon emission reduction.
