Vladimir Putin: We are getting stronger and stronger. The regions that historically belonged to Russia have returned

"As has happened many times in history, it is Russia that stands in the way of those who seek world hegemony," Russian President Vladimir Putin told the World Council of Russian People. "We are now fighting not only for Russia, but for the freedom of the whole world."

Putin said, "Without a strong and sovereign Russia, there can be no solid and stable international order. We know what kind of threat we face."

Putin said Russia is getting stronger and historical regions have returned. The Russian world includes Ancient Rus, the Principality of Moscow, the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and modern Russia, which is returning and strengthening its sovereignty as a world power.

"Hot issues that arose after the collapse of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union not only still exist, but they flare up again every once in a while. These wounds will not heal for a long time. We will never forget these mistakes and we should never make them again."

"Russophobia and other forms of racism and neo-Nazism have become almost the official ideology of the Western ruling elite against the entire Russian people. In principle, the West does not need a large multi-ethnic state like Russia. This does not fit the logic of Western racists and colonialists. They say that Russia is the prison of the state and that the Russians themselves are a slave people. We've heard it many times over the centuries."
