25 companies from the Greater Bay Area have been listed on the Fortune Global 500: Luxon Precision has made its debut on the list, while Gree has fallen off the list

The latest Fortune Global 500 ranking was released on August 2nd. There are a total of 142 companies in China (including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) on the list, and the number of large companies continues to rank first among all countries.

There are a total of 25 companies on the list in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, an increase of 1 compared to last year. Among them, there are 10 in Shenzhen, 6 in Guangzhou, 6 in Hong Kong, 2 in Foshan, and 1 in Dongguan, covering industries such as finance, technology, automotive, pharmaceuticals, home appliances, and real estate.

Among the 7 newly listed and re listed companies in China, 3 are from the Greater Bay Area, including Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd., Guangdong Guangxin Holding Group Co., Ltd., and Lixun Precision Industry Co., Ltd. For the first time, Dongguan and provincial state-owned enterprises in Guangdong Province have appeared in the Fortune Global 500.

From a regional perspective, the companies listed in various regions have distinct characteristics: Shenzhen is known for its high technology, and out of the 5 high-tech Chinese companies on the list, 3 come from Shenzhen - Huawei, Tencent, and China Electronics Information.

The newly listed "Fruit Chain Brother", Lixun Precision, is one of the five high-tech enterprises and closely related to Shenzhen. Li Xun Precision, known as "Little Foxconn," has gone through an advanced process from OEM to independent research and development. Since going public in 2010, the company's market value has set a record high of 440.5 billion yuan. Beyond the Apple industry chain, Lixun Precision has also entered the automotive electronics and communication businesses, and is trying to alleviate its dependence on Apple. In this ranking, Lixun Precision has become one of the top ten ROE companies in China.

Guangzhou focuses on state-owned enterprises, whether it is veteran players Guangzhou Automobile Group, Guangzhou Construction, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group, or newly listed Guangzhou Industrial Investment and Guangxin Group, they are all state-owned enterprises. Guangxin Group became the first provincial state-owned enterprise in Guangdong Province to be listed on the Fortune 500 list. In 2021, Guangxin Group successfully acquired Yipin Biotechnology, which ranked among the top three in the global biotechnology fermentation industry, and achieved business restructuring and listing.

Guangzhou Industrial Control is the youngest enterprise, formed by the joint restructuring of Guangzhou Iron and Steel Group, Wanbao Group, and Wanli Group in 2019, with a revenue of 36.5885 billion US dollars, making its debut on the list. Guangzhou Industrial Control currently holds 5 listed companies and owns multiple brands such as Wanbao, Wuyang, Wanli, and Guangri. The number of Guangzhou municipal state-owned enterprises selected for the Fortune Global 500 has also increased from 3 to 4.

Apart from new players, BYD is the most eye-catching. BYD, which has been on the list for the second consecutive year, is the second largest company in terms of ranking increase this year, rising 224 places to rank 212th. In the first half of the year, BYD exported 81000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 10.6 times. Guangzhou Automobile Group, which also focuses on the automotive business, has achieved a 21 place increase and ranks 165th. It can be said that new energy vehicles have become a representative work of high-quality manufacturing in the Greater Bay Area.
